The old Greek civilization is rich of mythological female characters. These goddesses and demigoddesses have extraordinary powers, but they look human and have human traits. The contrast between the extraordinary and humanity, the stories, the strong personalities and the symbols inspired me for my final collection.
Ten mythological goddesses have found their way into my collection. Their stories formed the basis for the silhouettes. Their symbolic attributes have been used to create my printed patterns. This has resulted in a collection of ten designs. Designs which represent strong, beautiful, modern women in a contemporary style.
The starting point of the actual designing proces are my collages. These are transformed to patterns that are used to print on different fabrics. These fabrics are moulded on the tailor’s dummy untill I recognize the atmosphere I’m looking for. This mould is the primary ingredient of the final design.
My goal is to produce wearable fashion that expresses a strong statement. I want to realize an image of the modern, expressive woman that radiates charm and character. For me, fabrics and prints are just as important as shape. Using my own designed and printed fabrics gives uniformity to my collections and makes it Loekie Mulder.
